There’s a teaching from Kabbalah that describes Creation as the shattering of Cosmic Unity into its trillion-trillion diverse pieces.
As conscious beings in this fractured world, one of our roles is to gather up these shards of Light, rediscovering and reclaiming the Divinity of It All. That’s the part that feels really warm & nice.
AND… I’m deeply aware this week that sometimes part of our work is to continue the breaking apart — splintering & scattering life into its evolving differentiation. This part can be painful.
The creative process must include both shattering and wholeness. This is the birth of God into the world, the actualization of our own selves, and a recognition that these are one and the same thing.
I can’t wait to see you this Saturday at Albuquerque Center for Spiritual Living (abqcsl.org) for our celebration service at 6:00. Join us at 5:30 for community and cheer. XO, Rev. Drew
These lines from a St. Thomas Aquinas poem keep singing through my mind and soul:
Our hearts irrigate this earth;
We are fields before each other.
The imagery is so exquisite, isn’t it? How sweetly vulnerable it is to be open and available to one another, our tenderest feelings enriching and nourishing the earth, our shared life — not just the place in which we stand ourselves, but the space we hold for each other.
I propose a “field day” — or maybe a field month, or a field forever. Let’s free ourselves to be together in deeper, more powerful, and beautifully creative ways.
This Saturday, December 3, at Albuquerque Center for Spiritual Living (abqcsl.org). Service at 6:00 pm, community & cheer at 5:30. See you there! XO, Drew
